Deep Thoughts, by Lyle

On the day I was bornthe open road is calling me...but then so is that pile of dirt
The vet techs all gathered 'round
And gazed in wide wonder
At the joy they had found
The Head Tech spoke up
She said, "Leave this one alone!"
She could tell right away
I was bad to the bone

B-b-b-b-bad!  Bad to the bone!

Okey dokey, pups.  I'm working on developing my Dark Side.  I got a motorcycle.  My good buddy Skye sold it to me, cheap!  And I get to keep it if I can convince her human brother that I paid a fair price.  So maybe I am borrowing a motorcycle.  I look COOL.  I look Dangerous.  But I don't look Dark.  Phooey.

I joined Coco and Bailey's baseball team, U.S. Paws.  I'm the new center fielder.  But Little Bit says baseball is wholesome and fun.  She says if I want to work on my Dark Side I should consider basketball.

So I'm striking out (HA! HA!  Get it?  It's a baseball thing.) all around.  I think maybe it's my attitude.  I need to be nasty.  I need to be growly.  I should hurl insults.  Hey, Dexter!  You're a....uh...a...um....AARDVARK!!

AAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Clearly that isn't going to work.  I think I'm going to have to settle for Dangerous and see where that gets me.

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
Just A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome Lyle;
Anyone can understand the way I feel.

Oh, put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be Centerfield.

Well, I spent some time in the Mudville Nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know I took some lumps when the Mighty Coco struck out.
So Say Hey Bailey, tell Ty Cobb and Joe DiMaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.

Oh, put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, gotta be Centerfield.

Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know I think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
*pop* It's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

phbbbbb...phbbbbb....phbbbb!
