Sorry I haven't written in so long. Little Bit says I must have something called "writer's block." Well, I guess she must be right because I took some Pepto Bismol and I feel much better. And a chapter or two came out. I had no idea writing a novel could be so risky.
rawhide is good for writer's block too
AnyLoo, this is what I made:

Chapter 30
The crowd had grown from a gaggle of reporters to a burgeoning throng of onlookers. The noise was almost deafening, and so Dexter felt more than heard the approaching danger. The ground quivered slightly under his feet, and he thought he heard a rumble. He scanned the horizon, but could see nothing. A moment later, some people in the crowd began to become aware of the noise, and the din quieted. There was a crash not more than a couple of blocks away followed by what was unmistakably a roar. A preternatural hush fell over the crowd. From his vantage point on the podium Dexter was one of the first to see the head of the monster emerging from between the buildings. His jaw dropped. “Jumpin’ Jehosephat,” he whispered in awe. He shouted into his radio, “All units report to the Millennium Fountain at once! Suspect has been sighted!”
He drew his gun and ran to protect the mayor. He stared up at the creature closing in on them. “Madame Mayor, get into your car,” he insisted.
“Chief, I know your men are on the way. Until they get here, your job is to protect the public. I don’t expect any special treatment. Go and keep them safe,” she replied. Dexter reluctantly left her with her aides and headed toward the crowd.

Chapter 31
“Seva! Wait up!” called Lyle. The starlet was surprisingly fast for a dog wearing only three shoes. He trotted to keep up with her.
“No time, no time,” Seva grumbled. “Do you have any idea what that beast might be doing to my shoe?” She shuddered at the possibilities.
“I hope Miss Matches and Princess Morgan are okay,” said Lyle.
“I hope my favorite Prada pump is okay,” muttered Seva. “I should have let it eat you.”
“What was that?” asked Lyle, but Seva ignored him.
A moment later even Seva forgot about her shoe when they saw the scene at the fountain. People and dogs were running, screaming, and barking as the monster thumped its way toward the podium. Lyle and Seva could just make out the wriggling forms of the two dogs clutched in his claws.
Lyle gasped. “He’s heading straight for the mayor!”

Chapter 32
Panting with the effort, officers Skye and Basil raced on the trail of the monster. They became aware of a steady stream of people running in the opposite direction. It appeared that a crowd had gathered up ahead at the lakefront, and something was causing a panic.
“I think you found the right trail, Skye,” Basil huffed between labored breaths. “What do you think is going on up there? Wait, no…Oh, no! The press conference! The mayor!” He mustered the last of his strength and sprinted into the crowd.
“Basil, no! Wait for me!” Skye shouted. “You can’t go in there without backup!” She ran at top speed in pursuit of her partner, but she was no match for his speed. “Crazy beagle,” she muttered.
She caught her first glimpse of the suspect just a few moments later. She didn’t have time to be shocked. She ran to assist Basil, who was closing in on the creature. It had arrived at the podium and was closing in on the mayor and a small crowd of dogs she was desperately trying to protect. For a moment, time seemed to stop as she watched the scene unfold. The monster stopped several feet from the huddled group. It leaned low over them, sniffing and drooling. The mayor bent low to the ground as the monster’s snout lowered closer and closer. Its jaws began to open. The dogs under Impy’s arms began to whine in fear. Suddenly the monster’s head jerked up and the creature let out a howl. Skye watched as it whipped its tail side to side. She could see something latched on to the creature’s tail, swinging wildly as the creature roared.
“Basil! No!” she shouted as she realized it was her partner who had bitten the monster’s tail to distract him from devouring the mayor. She watched in horror as Basil was flung off of the creature’s tail and careened into the base of the fountain. The monster turned towards her attacker, and Skye opened fire.

Chapter 33
Dexter turned from herding a group of people away from the approaching creature and saw one of his officers hurtling toward the fountain. He joined Skye in the defense, raining bullets on the monster. It howled again and shook its head. Something small and red flew off of its head and landed at Dexter’s feet. Without thinking, he picked it up and stowed it in his holster. He continued firing on the monster, but it seemed unfazed by the attack. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the mayor and her little group hurrying away to safety. Suddenly he remembered his conversation at the café.
“Hold your fire, Officer!” he shouted to Skye.
“Yes, sir!” she replied. “There’s an officer down!”
    “There are hostages.”

Chapter 34
Princess Morgan and Miss Matches could only watch in terror as the events unfolded. Trapped in the claws of the monster, they could do nothing to prevent the assault on the mayor. When they heard gunshots, they shouted at the top of their lungs. “Wait! Don’t shoot! Please don’t shoot us!” They gave themselves up for lost when they realized gunfire was erupting from two directions. The creature shook his head violently as the bullets rallied off his scales, and the dogs were badly rattled. Suddenly the shooting stopped. They opened their eyes to see the two officers in animated conversation below.
“They heard us!” said Miss Matches, a note of hope in her voice. “But what are they going to do?”
Princess Morgan noticed two figures moving towards them behind the monster, and her mind began working furiously. Seva and Lyle were just moments away, running towards them. If she could just get Lyle’s attention, maybe, just maybe, they could be saved.but I'm much better now, thanks
